  11. --- Shadow Of The Beast 3 Hard Disk Installer ---

  13. This installer requires the ORIGINAL disks from Shadow Of The Beast 3, PAL or NTSC version
  14. (there are 2 game disks, the intro is not HD installable).
  15. It should NOT work for cracked versions, but if the files are ripped the same way I
  16. did on the original, it could.
  17.  
  18. The HD-Patched game will need about 1Mb of fast memory if you use the HDLOAD tooltype,
  19. 3Mb if you don't use it (files cached in RAM).

  22. FEATURES:
  23.  
  24. - Full HD/RAM load of the game, using real files instead of diskfiles.
  25. - Now both NTSC and PAL versions are supported, and can run indifferently in PAL or NTSC
  26.   (there were a country check, but the only difference between the 2 versions is the 'main' file)
  27. - F5 key allows you to quit the game now in the menu and during the game
  28. - Original trainer keys activated (<- ->). Thanx to Abaddon for the cheat.
  29. - Low memory consumption owing to the HDLOAD tooltype
  30. - Full use of fast memory and full memory control

  34. The game should work on ALL Kickstarts and ALL CPUs (up to '060).
  35. Report me any bugs you'll find.

  37. Note: I created and tested this package with a A1200/060/50 16Mb, so there should
  38. be no problems for all 680x0 CPUs (caches,chipset...). It degrades display properly
  39. so Multiscan users won't have any sprite or screen problem.

  41. INSTALLING THE GAME:
  42.  
  43. Just run the installer script.
  44.  
  45. When the disks are copied during installation, the pointer freezes. That's
  46. normal cause the game uses a custom trackload routine (copy-protection), and
  47. it does not easily multitask.
  48.  
  49. To abort installation during the custom disk loading, just press the left mouse
  50. button.
  51.  
  52. The installer also checks that you inserted the correct disk. In case of problem
  53. during the installation, you can partially re-install the game by hand using
  54. the rippsyfiles command.
  55.  
  56. After that you just have to adjust the tooltypes and start the game by clicking on
  57. the SOTB3HD icon or by typing SOTB3HD <options> in a shell.

  59. 'SOTB3HD ?' will give you the list of the arguments that you can use.

  61. OPTIONS:
  62.  
  63. I don't repeat them in every doc file I join to one of my installers. Read the doc
  64. I wrote to know the details. You'll find it on my http patch page.

  66. PAL: Forces the game tu run PAL mode. Useful when you have a NTSC amiga, useless otherwise,
  67. because the loader switches in 15KHz anyway.
  68. NTSC: Same thing for NTSC.
  69. QUIET: displays nothing and opens no window. No error messages, and no author message.
  70. NOCACHES: useful if you get unexplained crashes. The game will disable all caches at startup.
  71. HDLOAD: new feature: allows loading of big files from harddisk instead of caching them in
  72. memory -> less memory used, but the screen goes black when the hard disk is accessed.

  74. DEBUG: useful only for bug reports. Makes a memory image on exit.
  75. LEAVEVBR: useful only for debugging purposes, and with a debugger such as Action-Replay,
  76.           HRTMon or ThrillKill. Don't select it unless you want to debug.

  99. for 680x0 or write HD-Installers (NO WAY FOR CRACKED VERSIONS).

  110. This patch can be distributed freely, but I'd appreciate that you drop me a line
  111. if you include it in a coverdisk or PD collection.

  113. However, FFD (France Festival Distribution) is not allowed to include it in any
  114. of its PD disks (if you read usenet in fr.comp.sys.amiga, you'll know why).
  115. It's the only exception for the distribution.
